Filmmaker Dave Boyle is slated to direct a new, untitled feature film for Paramount Pictures and producer Walter Hamada's 18Hz label. Boyle is also set to rewrite the screenplay for the project, which is described as sci-fi inflected horror. This new endeavor is part of Hamada's discretionary fund at Paramount. Boyle's recent film, the Japanese language horror 'Never After Dark,' premiered at SXSW 2026, receiving strong critical buzz and earning the Audience Award in the Midnighter section. Prior to this, Boyle served as showrunner and director for Netflix's 'House of Ninjas,' which achieved the #1 spot on Netflix's Global Top Ten (Non-English) list in 2024. Paramount's slate also includes 'Passenger,' set for theaters on May 22, and the recently released 'Primate.'
