In a striking feature debut, director and co-writer Theo Rhys presents a unique blend of dark comedy, offbeat romance, and a twisted musical. The film masterfully balances macabre themes with heartfelt moments.
At its core are Araminta, a reclusive mortician and taxidermist harboring a specific dream, and Bernie, a solitary factory worker. Their paths cross when Bernie makes an extraordinary request, forging a connection between these two isolated individuals.
Screenwriter Jodie Comer expressed her long-held desire to create a musical, noting that this project, while unexpected in its form, was a significant realization of that ambition. The film had its first screening on Thursday, September 10th, at the Royal Alexandra Theatre.
