Danniella Westbrook: "I hate the way I look" amid facial reconstruction

Former EastEnders actress Danniella Westbrook is undergoing extensive facial reconstruction surgery, stating, "I hate the way I look." The 52-year-old expressed her dissatisfaction with her reflection as the procedures to repair long-term damage are still in progress.

The damage is linked to her past struggles with cocaine addiction and osteoporosis, which have significantly impacted the structure of her face, particularly one side which has lost bone support. Doctors are rebuilding the affected areas through a series of operations.

Her upcoming major surgery, scheduled for late September, involves using cartilage taken from her rib. This procedure is part of a broader plan that includes the potential for a metal cheekbone implant to restore structural integrity to her face.

Recent operations focused on reconstructing her upper lip, which had been pulled upward due to the changing facial structure. Earlier procedures addressed her nose, brow, and lips, aiming to realign her face. Westbrook anticipates the entire reconstruction process will take approximately 18 months.

Westbrook, who played Sam Mitchell on EastEnders, has been open about her addiction and recovery. She confirmed she is sober and actively working at a celebrity talent agency. Despite ongoing treatment and surgeries, she remains busy and focused on her recovery.

She has also spoken about facing online abuse regarding her appearance during the healing process, urging followers to understand that her look between procedures is not the final result. Westbrook acknowledges the frightening nature of the reconstruction but understands its necessity and phased approach.
