Daniela Vega, renowned for her role in the Oscar-winning "A Fantastic Woman," is now an executive producer on "Pink Desert." This debut feature film by Constanza Majluf is being produced by Chile's Espejismo Cine and Peru's Mestizo Studios. The narrative centers on Mariola, a character living in a 1970s desert mining town in northern Chile, who embarks on a transformative journey to discover her authentic self.
Vega expressed that the film addresses themes highly relevant to contemporary Latin America, particularly concerning the rights of marginalized communities. She highlighted the project's urgent need and its compelling mix of comedy and drama, calling it an honest portrayal of cultural identity. The film's creative team includes writer Ignacio Juricic and producers Rodrigo Díaz and Juan de Dios Larraín.
"Pink Desert" is poised for pre-production in April 2026 and is actively seeking co-producers, sales agents, platforms, and distributors. Despite securing some funding from the Chilean Ministry of Culture, further investment is required for high-quality production. The film has previously participated in several international co-production labs and markets.
