As of October 12, 2025, "Dancing With the Stars" pro Alan Bersten has revealed some of his unique pre-show superstitions. Bersten, who won the mirrorball trophy in 2019, admits that he wears the same pair of underwear for every live performance, even though the pair is washed between shows.
In addition to his underwear ritual, Bersten also has a different "good luck" song he listens to each season, ranging from "All the Way Up" by Fat Joe to "Chop Suey." Bersten is currently partnered with actress Elaine Hendrix, and the duo has been consistently scoring in the middle of the leaderboard.
Despite their strong connection, Hendrix and Bersten have faced some criticism from the judges for Hendrix appearing to dance independently at times. Hendrix has explained that the intricate nature of the dances means she has a lot to think about, from her heel placement to her shoulder positioning.
Nonetheless, Bersten and Hendrix have continued to impress, recently performing a quickstep to the Space Mountain attraction theme song that the pro dancer described as a "gamble" that "really paid off." As they look ahead, the pair will next take on a foxtrot to Natalie Cole's "This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)" with Hendrix's "Parent Trap" co-star and best friend, Lisa Ann Walter.
