Dana Margolin, the former frontperson of the indie rock band Porridge Radio, has unveiled their first solo single. Titled "Big Beautiful Sound," the track is characterized as a spare acoustic ballad. Margolin reportedly challenged themselves to compose the entire song using only an eight-track recording setup.
A minimalist black-and-white music video, directed by Mike Mills and Joe Nankin, has also been released to accompany the single. Margolin described the song as an exploration of descending into darkness, finding a luminous 'big and beautiful sound' at the deepest point.
Porridge Radio, which was active for nine years and released four studio albums, concluded their run in 2025. Their final album was 2024's "Clouds in the Sky They Will Always Be There for Me," followed by an EP derived from its sessions.
