'Dacoit' Delayed Again: Adivi Sesh Cites Theatre Woes
6 Mar
Summary
- Adivi Sesh's film 'Dacoit' has been postponed multiple times.
- The delay is due to insufficient theatre and showtime guarantees in Hindi.
- The film's release was impacted by the simultaneous release of major films.

The release of Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur's film, 'Dacoit: Ek Prem Katha,' has been delayed once more. Actor Adivi Sesh explained that the decision was made because the production could not secure adequate theatre and showtime guarantees for its Hindi release on March 19. This move was influenced by the simultaneous releases of prominent films, including 'Dhurandhar 2' and 'Toxic,' necessitating a date change to ensure better audience reach.
Adivi Sesh described 'Dacoit' as a deeply personal project, a neo-Western love story with an Indian soul and an American aesthetic, co-created with director Shaneil Deo. He praised his co-star Mrunal Thakur for her dedication, noting their on-screen chemistry is evident in their song 'Rubaroo.' Sesh also commented on the Telugu film industry's situation, attributing the challenges not to a recession but to the bursting of an 'artificially inflated bubble of sales,' leading to altered post-COVID costs.
Regarding the impact of 'Dhurandhar,' Adivi Sesh stated it affected the film's release strategy but not its content. He emphasized the need to give due respect to the country's biggest film. Reflecting on his career, Sesh expressed gratitude for the opportunities and audience love, finding no desire to change his journey, only to appreciate it more. He also mentioned idolizing Aamir Khan, Rajinikanth, Michael Mann, and Christopher Nolan.
