Cyndi Lauper's Musician Son Declyn Lauper Faces Legal Troubles

Cyndi Lauper's only son, Declyn Wallace Thornton Lauper, has been making a name for himself in the music industry under the stage name Dex Lauper. The 27-year-old has released several songs on SoundCloud and keeps his 2.2 million social media followers updated on his musical endeavors.

Despite his mother's fame, Declyn has faced some legal troubles in recent years. In July 2022, he was arrested in New York City for allegedly using a stolen 2014 Mercedes-Benz C350. He pleaded guilty and was ordered to complete community service. Just a few months later, in February 2024, Declyn was arrested again, this time for allegedly carrying a loaded firearm illegally in New York City.

Lauper, who has spoken about the challenges of balancing her successful music career and family life, has praised her husband David Thornton for being a great father while she was often on the road. The Grammy-winning artist has also discussed the pressure Declyn has felt being the son of a famous musician.
