Sega's Crazy Taxi: World Tour Arrives 2027!

Sega is set to bring back the frenetic energy of the Dreamcast era with Crazy Taxi: World Tour, scheduled for a 2027 launch. This revival aims to recapture the wild, original spirit that defined games like Crazy Taxi, focusing on maintaining the beloved vibes and vibrant visual style of its predecessor.

The upcoming title retains the signature fare-pickup system, where players race against the clock to deliver passengers, navigating through chaotic urban environments. Accompanying this classic gameplay is the return of the signature late '90s and early 2000s alt-rock and pop-punk soundtrack. Early previews highlight that the game will offer more than just time-based fare collection.

Crazy Taxi: World Tour introduces several new modes, including a free-form sandbox experience. A preview of the game featured a map set in Germany, which was divided into distinct zones like an airport, city center, village, and a hilltop castle. Within these areas, players can encounter specialized fares offering unique mini-quests, adding a layer of scripted absurdity and memorable characters.

These specialized fares often involve bizarre requests, such as assisting an Easter Bunny character with collecting eggs or launching a wingsuit daredevil from the cab. This element harks back to the distinctive Sega Dreamcast energy, blending exaggerated scenarios with funky, over-the-top characters. This return to lighthearted, escalating inanity offers a refreshing contrast to more serious game narratives.
