Constance Wu Returns to Crazy Rich Asians HBO Series

Constance Wu is confirmed to return to the Crazy Rich Asians franchise for a new HBO series, reprising her acclaimed role as Rachel Chu. The upcoming one-hour drama series, which received a series order from HBO earlier this month, will see Wu reuniting with the Young family. Production for the highly anticipated series is slated to commence next year in New York City.

Adele Lim, a co-writer of the original 2018 film, is at the helm as showrunner and writer, a move that has garnered praise from Wu. Wu expressed confidence in Lim's talent, stating she is "smart and good and talented." The series order from HBO follows a development period of about two years, initiated by Lim along with director Jon M. Chu and producers Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson. Wu indicated that the script, penned by Lim, is "very funny" and "really good."
