Courtroom Drama 'Haq' to Reignite Crucial Conversations on Justice and Equality

In November 2025, filmmaker Suparn S Varma is set to bring a powerful story to the big screen with his courtroom drama 'Haq.' Inspired by the historic Shah Bano case, the film stars Yami Gautam Dhar and Emraan Hashmi in pivotal roles.

At the recent trailer launch, Varma opened up about the years of research and emotional depth behind the project. He shared that the team spent three years researching and writing the film to bring it to audiences. Varma emphasized that the story goes beyond the genre of courtroom drama, delving into themes of justice, faith, and equality.

The director praised the dedication of his lead actors, particularly Yami Gautam Dhar, who played the role of Shazia Bano. Varma revealed that Gautam Dhar, a "new mother," shot for 32 days without a break, fully immersing herself in the character. He also expressed his admiration for Emraan Hashmi, who approached the role with the hunger and curiosity of a newcomer.
