Summary
- James Cartwright, Theo Silverton actor, is leaving the soap.
- His departure follows a past conviction for assault.
- Cartwright's contract was finite and his exit is planned.

James Cartwright, known for his role as villain Theo Silverton in Coronation Street, is leaving the long-running soap opera. This departure follows revelations seven months ago that Cartwright was convicted for breaking another man's eye socket in a nightclub incident.
ITV confirmed Cartwright's exit, stating that his role was on a 'finite contract' and that his character's story arc had a planned conclusion. Despite the revelations, Cartwright still has scenes to film and will be visible on screen until later in 2026.
The actor, 41, was sentenced in 2013 to a suspended jail term for grievous bodily harm after an altercation. He had claimed self-defence, but a jury convicted him.
