On a recent FIFA World Cup broadcast, commentator Alexi Lalas unexpectedly used the phrase "full kit wanker" when discussing James Corden. This British slang term is considered vulgar and describes an adult who wears a full soccer uniform in public when not actively participating in the sport. Lalas used the term seemingly in response to Corden wearing workout gear during a segment on his new show, "FIFA World Cup on FOX After Hours."
The incident occurred during a pregame show featuring host Rebecca Lowe, Thierry Henry, and Zlatan Ibrahimović. The panel expressed surprise at Lalas's word choice, with Lowe noting that the term carries a harsher connotation in the United Kingdom than in the United States. Corden's new show is scheduled for 24 episodes and is co-hosted by Rio Ferdinand and Ian Karmel. The 2026 FIFA World Cup commenced across North America on Thursday.
