Summary
- James Mangold's 'Cop Land' is being adapted into a TV series.
- The series will join other 'Land' titles on Paramount+.
- The project was developed by Paramount Television Studios and Miramax.

Paramount+ is developing a television series adaptation of James Mangold's 1997 film 'Cop Land.' The streamer secured the rights in a competitive situation, with the project set to join other 'Land' titled shows on the platform. Paramount Television Studios and Miramax Television are producing the series.
Director James Mangold, who co-wrote the adaptation with Robert Levine, is also set to direct. Levine will serve as showrunner. This development follows Miramax CEO Jonathan Glickman's outreach to Mangold about adapting the film from the studio's library.
The acquisition by Skydance of Paramount Global, which owns 49% of Miramax, accelerated the project. This collaboration between Paramount TV Studios and Miramax TV is one of the first major initiatives following the merger.
'Cop Land' originally starred Sylvester Stallone as a sheriff confronting corrupt NYPD officers. The film also featured Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta, and Robert De Niro. Mangold's return to television follows his executive producing work on the USA series 'Damnation' and his successful feature film career.
