Universal Pictures has secured the rights to develop a feature remake of the 2012 Korean film, Confession of Murder. Chris MacBride is set to write the screenplay for this new adaptation.
Glen Powell and Dan Cohen of Barnstorm, along with Naomi Funabashi and Rishi Rajani from Winged Tiger, are attached as producers. The original South Korean film centered on a gripping investigation following a serial killer's confession through a published book, detailing murders for which he could not be legally prosecuted.
Barnstorm, founded in 2025, is also in post-production on "The Comeback King" and recently saw their Hulu show "Chad Powers" release its second season. The company is also developing a Lou Gehrig movie with Universal. Producers Funabashi and Rajani have a notable background, having produced award-winning films like "A Thousand and One" and "The Forty-Year Old Version."
Chris MacBride brings a wealth of recent writing credits, including selling the feature pitch "Kingmakers" to Netflix and writing "The Wolf" for Amazon-MGM. He also rewrote "Face/Off 2" for Paramount and has his original psychological thriller "Echo" set up at Searchlight.
