Concordia Studio has named the four filmmakers who will receive its 2026 Concordia Fellowship. Elizabeth Ai, Sue Ding, Julian Brave NoiseCat, and Alejandra Vasquez were chosen for their creative vision and ability to tell essential stories. The fellowship provides mentorship from industry veterans and access to Concordia's production resources.
Throughout the year, fellows will participate in masterclasses and guest visits featuring notable figures like Geeta Gandbhir and Tabitha Jackson, as well as representatives from companies such as Netflix and Sundance. The program was led by Concordia's Rahdi Taylor and Jess Kwan, who expressed pride in supporting these filmmakers' bold new works.
The selected fellows each bring unique perspectives: Ai focuses on cultural outsiders, Ding explores power and place, NoiseCat is an Oscar-nominated filmmaker known for "Sugarcane," and Vasquez works with youth, art, and culture in rural and borderland areas. Concordia Studio, founded in 2020, has previously supported acclaimed films like "Summer of Soul" and "Boys State."
