- Von clarified he did not mean he would take his own life

In a recent episode of his podcast "This Past Weekend," comedian Theo Von discussed the difficulties he faced leading up to his comedy special at New York's Beacon Theatre. According to Von, he had started "self-weaning" himself off antidepressants over the summer, as he "wanted to have a little bit more emotion" during the performance. However, this process, combined with the news of a murder and a controversial video of Von being used by the Department of Homeland Security, left him feeling "paranoid" and "mildly manic" before the show.
Von acknowledged that the special "wasn't great" and was "choppy," though he said some people loved it. He also addressed a viral clip from after the show, where he told fans he was "having a long month" and was "trying not to take my own life." Von clarified that he did not actually mean he would take his own life, stating, "I would never take my own life."
As of October 2nd, 2025, Von and his team have not yet decided if they will re-shoot the special. Despite the challenges, Von remains optimistic, saying, "It's OK, man. It's part of the job. So much of my life, the best things that have happened in my life have been on the other side of failure."
