The Estadio 3 de Marzo, a venue with 55 years of history in Guadalajara, has been reborn as the Coliseo GNP Seguros, aiming to be western Mexico's premier live entertainment hub. Originally inaugurated in 1971 and deeply connected to the city's cultural life, it hosted legendary soccer matches and concerts by global artists.
This transformation is a collaboration between OCESA, GNP Seguros, and the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, balancing the preservation of collective memory with the enhancement of infrastructure. After a 17-month renovation, Michael Bublé and Natanael Cano performed on September 22 and 25, respectively, inaugurating the new Coliseo.
Architect Óscar Rodríguez of TaAU studio led the renovation, emphasizing the preservation of the main structure. Key changes include a repositioned stage for greater flexibility, improved audience experience with numbered seating and enhanced accessibility, modernized bleachers for better visibility, and upgraded hospitality spaces including VIP zones and expanded food and beverage options.
The venue, with a capacity of up to 30,000, is now better equipped to host major national and international tours. Future performances include artists like Gorillaz, Alejandro Sanz, Yuridia, and Los Bukis, solidifying its role in Guadalajara's vibrant cultural landscape.
