Colin Hanks Candidly Shares Joys and Challenges of Raising Teenage Daughters

In a recent interview, actor Colin Hanks candidly discussed the joys and trials of raising his two teenage daughters, Olivia (14) and Charlotte (12). Hanks, who is 47 years old, shared that the transition to a household with two teenagers has not been easy, joking that he "bought all my struggle on layaway" when his daughters were born.

Despite the challenges, Hanks maintains a good rapport with his girls, describing their relationship as a "détente." He explained that he doesn't expect them to come to him often, but the offer is always there, and they know they can feel safe approaching him. However, Hanks also revealed that he has to be careful when entering his daughters' personal spaces, as there will be "hell to pay" if he doesn't knock first.

Hanks also spoke about his parents, legendary actors Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, and their role as grandparents. While he said they are "great" in that capacity, Hanks joked that they don't always pay attention to the kids' schedules or cook food the girls will eat. He quipped that the only thing missing is if his parents had "good ugly sweater vests" and complained about the temperature.

As Hanks looks ahead to the next 10 years of raising teenagers, he seems to be taking it in stride, using humor to navigate the ups and downs of parenting.
