29 Oct
Summary
- Farrell, 49, opened up about his breakthrough role in 2002's 'Minority Report'
- He had a terrible day on set, showing up drunk and struggling with his lines
- Cruise was not happy with Farrell's performance that day

In a recent interview, Irish actor Colin Farrell, now 49 years old, opened up about his experience starring in the 2002 sci-fi film 'Minority Report'. Directed by Steven Spielberg and also starring Tom Cruise, the movie was a breakthrough role for Farrell in the United States.
Farrell recalled that getting cast in the film was a "huge" opportunity, but he also had "one of the worst days" on the set. The actor, who grew up watching Cruise and Spielberg's films, said he "begged" to get the day off for his birthday, but was instead told to be ready on set at 6 a.m. Farrell admitted he "got up to all sorts of nonsense the night before" and showed up to the set intoxicated.
The actor struggled to deliver a key line about the "fundamental paradox of precrime methodology" and it took 46 takes for him to get it right. Farrell's co-star, Tom Cruise, was "not very happy" with his performance that day. Despite the setback, 'Minority Report' went on to be a major critical and commercial success, grossing over $350 million worldwide.
