A sequel series to the 1995 cult classic film Clueless has been greenlit by Paramount+, bringing Alicia Silverstone back as Cher Horowitz.
The new series is set to revisit Cher 30 years after the original movie. She is now a mother to a teenage daughter and the owner of a thriving business, seemingly having life mastered.
However, her world is turned upside down when her daughter enters high school, echoing Cher's own past feelings of being 'clueless'. The show will be executive produced by Silverstone, original director Amy Heckerling, and producer Robert Lawrence.
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, known for creating The O.C. and Gossip Girl, will write and executive produce under their Fake Empire banner, alongside Jordan Weiss. The series will film in Los Angeles, honoring the original film's iconic filming locations.
This project faced a prior development at Peacock, which was later scrapped before Paramount+ picked it up. The original 1995 film, a modern adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma, was a box office success and remains a pop culture touchstone. Paramount+ has recently added several other series, including 'Laird' and 'Discretion'.
