Summary
- Gay footballer Josh Cavallo consulting on UK web series Armour
- Series follows Premier League player whose sexts are leaked, forcing him to come out
- Inspired by real-life struggles of LGBTQ+ players in the sport

In November 2025, Australian footballer Josh Cavallo, who made global headlines last year as the first top-flight male player to come out while still playing professionally, is consulting on the production of a new UK short-form web series called Armour. The series, set to begin filming in spring 2026, will follow the story of Harry Slade, a fictional Premier League player whose world is turned upside down after a risky hook-up leads to his private sexts being leaked to a tabloid.
Armour, created by Tim Reynard and produced by DeCantillon Films, will explore the challenges and consequences faced by LGBTQ+ athletes in the sport. The 10-episode series will star Jordan Luke Gage as Slade, an England international who must decide whether to risk being outed by the press or take control of the narrative and come out on his own terms.
Cavallo, who has been vocal about the lack of LGBTQ+ representation and role models in professional football, is excited to lend his expertise to the project. "Coming out as a footballer showed me how powerful visibility can be, but it also reminded me how far we still have to go," he said. "With a gay showrunner leading the project, there's a real authenticity driving it, and the fact it will be free to watch on YouTube makes it accessible to young players everywhere."
