Vertical has stepped in to secure the U.S. distribution rights for the upcoming "Cliffhanger" reboot, a surprise move following the collapse of the previous distributor, Row K. The action-adventure film, set to star Lily James and Pierce Brosnan, is now targeting a wide theatrical release in spring 2027.
The new "Cliffhanger" is envisioned as a modern take on the iconic 1993 Sylvester Stallone film. It features Pierce Brosnan as a legendary mountaineer and Lily James as his daughter, who must confront her fears and the treacherous Dolomites terrain to save her family from kidnappers. The film boasts a supporting cast including Nell Tiger Free, Franz Rogowski, and others.
This acquisition by Vertical marks a significant development for the project, ensuring its cinematic release. The film's producers include Lars Sylvest, Thorsten Schumacher, Joe Neurauter, Philipp Kreuzer, Neal Moritz, and Toby Jaffe. The deal was negotiated by Vertical's acquisition team, with CAA Media Finance representing the filmmakers and Rocket Science handling international sales.
