In DC Studios' Clayface, Tom Rhys Harries portrays Matt Hagen, an actor whose life is shattered when he is brutally disfigured by the mafioso Szabo. His career in ruins, Matt turns to Dr. Caitlyn Corr for a groundbreaking nanotech solution to restore his face.
However, the revolutionary treatment results in terrifying side effects, transforming Matt into the shape-shifting villain Clayface. This leads him on a violent path of revenge against those who wronged him.
Adding an unexpected Easter egg, Aaron Paul makes a brief appearance as Matt's father, a character who raised him in Gotham's slums. While flashbacks were removed, Paul's cameo occurs during a key action sequence where Matt shape-shifts.
Director James Watkins explored the theme of "sins of the father" but ultimately focused on the more universal sense of being wronged and the powerlessness felt when seeking retribution, making the story relatable.
