Cinema auditoriums are expanding their role beyond film, now embracing live music, poetry, and storytelling. This transformation brings the intimacy of traditional gatherings into modern cinematic settings, offering audiences a unique cultural experience.
The 'Marham - The Journey Within' production exemplifies this shift, blending poetry, music, and personal narratives. Rooted in the concept of a 'baithak,' it prioritizes listening and conversation, fostering a closer connection between performers and audiences.
This format premiered in Kolkata in March 2026 and has since seen sold-out shows. It is now set to debut in cinema halls across Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Gurugram, and Jaipur starting September 26, 2026.
Gautam Dutta, CEO of PVR INOX's Revenue & Operations, stated that 'LIVE ON STAGE' aims to utilize cinema spaces for live events and new artistic forms. Marham's presence in cinemas aims to bring the warmth of traditional settings to contemporary venues.
