4 Mar
Summary
- Cinemark CEO sees Paramount's potential takeover as positive for extended film runs.
- Warner Bros. Discovery is courted by Paramount and previously by Netflix.
- Generative AI could enhance movie creation and visual effects for theaters.

Cinemark CEO Sean Gamble expressed optimism regarding Paramount's potential acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, seeing it as a positive development for longer theatrical exhibition runs. He noted that both Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery have historically been strong partners for Cinemark.
The potential takeover follows Netflix's withdrawal from bidding for Warner Bros. Discovery. Netflix had proposed an $82.7 billion deal, while Paramount submitted a sweetened bid valued at $110 billion.
Gamble also discussed the ongoing evolution of the theatrical window post-pandemic. He pointed to Disney's successful strategy of maintaining longer cinema releases, citing "Zootopia 2" which will reach Disney+ after a 105-day theater window.
Furthermore, Gamble addressed the possibility of labor stoppages in Hollywood later this year. He conveyed hope that labor disputes would be resolved amicably, avoiding a repeat of past lengthy strikes.
The Cinemark CEO also spoke positively about the integration of generative AI in movie production, provided copyright protections are ensured. He believes AI can improve production efficiencies, unlock new visual effects, and increase the volume of compelling content for cinemas.
