Producer Chuck Lorre has recently experienced the profound loss of two significant figures from his professional life within a nine-month period. His long-time agent and mentor, Bob Broder, passed away in September. Subsequently, James Burrows, who served as Lorre's primary director for many successful projects, died last month after a short illness.
Broder, who represented both Lorre and Burrows throughout their careers, is credited with initiating their impactful collaboration. In 1997, he paired Burrows with Lorre to direct the pilot for the ABC comedy Dharma & Greg. This marked the beginning of a friendship and professional partnership that would span three decades.
Their extensive work together includes directing the pilots for numerous hit series. Burrows helmed Dharma & Greg, Two and a Half Men, and both versions of The Big Bang Theory pilot. He also served as a director and executive producer for Mike & Molly, and directed pilots for Disjointed and B Positive.
