Filmmaker Christopher Nolan, known for his work in various genres, has revealed his interest in directing a full-fledged horror movie. He shared his thoughts during a recent interview promoting his newest film, The Odyssey. Nolan stated that while he has never been compelled to make a horror film, he finds the genre deeply cinematic and appreciates its visceral nature.

Nolan noted that elements of horror can be found in his previous films, even in a dark material like Oppenheimer. He specifically pointed to a sequence in The Odyssey, involving the Cyclops and Odysseus's men, as a particularly horrifying experience. This scene aims to immerse the audience in the terrifying reality of the situation, which Nolan considers a key aspect of effective horror filmmaking. The Odyssey is scheduled to premiere in theaters on July 17, 2026.
