- He held onto a car as they tried to escape with boyfriends.
- Meloni recounted his intense bouncer experiences before acting.

Long before portraying Detective Elliot Stabler, actor Christopher Meloni navigated the rough environment of New York City as a bouncer. In a recent podcast appearance, Meloni, now 65, shared a vivid anecdote from his time at a Bleecker Street dive bar.
He recounted a chaotic evening when two women attempted to leave without settling their bill. Meloni and the manager pursued them onto the snowy street. The situation escalated when the women's boyfriends arrived in a car to facilitate their escape.
Meloni bravely clung to the passenger door of the fleeing car, which attempted to roll up its window on his hand. The women's boyfriends then tried to crush him against parked cars, leading to him being punched and slapped. He eventually let go, narrowly avoiding being run over.
This harrowing incident, which Meloni described as his most intense bouncer memory, occurred around 1999, shortly before he landed his breakthrough role on Law & Order: SVU. He also shared another story about using his college taekwondo skills to subdue an unruly patron.
Meloni's acting career began in the late 1980s, with notable roles on television shows. He achieved widespread recognition with Law & Order: SVU in 1999, a role he reprised for Law & Order: Organized Crime before its cancellation in 2025.
