Filmmaker Jason Ikeler's directorial debut, 'Safe for the Whole Family: How to Make a Christian Superstar,' is set to explore the complex realities behind Nashville's contemporary Christian music scene. The documentary promises to reveal the significant personal toll taken on artists who found themselves at the center of this industry.

Personal accounts from figures like Jennifer Knapp, Michael Passons, and Nikki Leonti are featured. They share experiences of being ostracized for life choices, such as Leonti being dropped by her label after a teenage pregnancy and Passons being ousted from Avalon after coming out as gay. Knapp reportedly left the genre over refusing to promote a conservative agenda.

Ikeler stated his intention to tell these stories truthfully, without assigning blame, driven by his own experiences as a gay individual within the evangelical world. The film examines the consequences when faith, fame, and commerce become intertwined, impacting artists who stepped outside the industry's rigid moral guidelines.
