Christian Bale has shared his thoughts on a forthcoming adaptation of 'American Psycho.' While promoting his movie 'The Bride!' on Tuesday, Bale responded to inquiries about a potential new take on the iconic character he portrayed. He expressed well wishes for the project, saying, "Whoever wants to give it a shot, give it a pop." Bale reminisced fondly about his experience making the 2000 film with director Mary Harron.
The new project, confirmed to be in development, is not a remake of the 2000 film. Instead, it aims to be a fresh adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' 1991 novel. Scott Z. Burns is writing the screenplay for this new interpretation, which director Luca Guadagnino teased last year. Guadagnino stated his commitment to bringing a new vision of the beloved book to the screen.
Members of the original 'American Psycho' team have also weighed in on the announcement. Co-star Matt Rothenberg acknowledged the challenge for newcomers, citing Bale's exceptional performance. Producer Chris Hanley defended the endeavor, highlighting Luca Guadagnino's directorial prowess and stating, "He's never made a bad movie."
