Davis Left McDonald for Goldblum: 'I Was Broken'

Actor Christopher McDonald has shared his profound heartbreak over his engagement ending when Geena Davis left him for Jeff Goldblum. The couple was engaged for about five weeks in 1985 before Davis fell in love with Goldblum on the set of their first movie together, 'Transylvania 6-5000.' McDonald recalled being "broken" by the news, which he received from co-star Ed Begley Jr. while he was performing in 'Hamlet.'

Years later, McDonald and Davis found themselves working together again in the 1991 film 'Thelma & Louise,' where he portrayed her husband. McDonald humorously recounted Davis's surprise upon learning he was cast in the role. Davis and Goldblum married in 1987, divorcing three years later. Davis has been married four times in total, while McDonald married actress Lupe Gidley in 1992.
