Chris Hemsworth first gained acting experience in his native Australia, appearing in the soap opera "Home and Away" from 2004 to 2007. He also competed on "Dancing with the Stars" during his time there. His initial foray into Hollywood was with the movie "Star Trek."
His breakthrough came with the 2011 film "Thor," a role he almost didn't get. Hemsworth has shared that his brother Liam was initially further along in the audition process, but Chris was brought back and offered the part he would play for over a decade.
Beyond his solo "Thor" films, Hemsworth has portrayed the character in numerous "Avengers" movies, starring alongside a prominent cast of superhero actors. His filmography also includes a variety of other significant roles in films such as "Snow White and the Huntsman" and "Extraction."
In his personal life, Hemsworth met his wife, Elsa Pataky, in early 2010. They married just a few months later and are now parents to three children: a daughter named India Rose and twin sons, Tristan and Sasha.
