- A 'clap-o-meter' will judge performances based on audience applause.
- Last year's event raised £2,500 for community projects and church heating.

Choir groups are preparing for a spirited competition, "Clash of the Choirs," to be held at St Mary's Church in Wedmore. Ten participating groups, comprising local school and community choirs from across Somerset, will vie for bragging rights in a fun-filled event. Organiser David Hopkins emphasized the competition's focus on bringing choirs together and fostering encouragement, noting that the audience's enthusiastic applause, measured by a 'clap-o-meter,' will determine the success of each performance.
Last year, the event proved a significant success, raising £2,500 which directly benefited the local community, including funding new heating for the church. Crispin School Academy's musical theatre students, aged 12 to 16, will be among the competitors, performing a medley from "Frozen." Their teacher, Alison Cooper, highlighted the event as a valuable opportunity for students to gain performance experience in a supportive and informal setting.
The "Clash of the Choirs" is scheduled to commence at 18:00 GMT this Saturday. The event promises a good-natured atmosphere where participants can showcase their talents and enjoy a shared passion for music, supported by an always encouraging audience.
