Chiwetel Ejiofor, an Oscar nominee, has been cast in director Mike Flanagan's upcoming film titled 'The Exorcist.' This new adaptation is slated for release on March 12, 2027, and will feature Ejiofor alongside Scarlett Johansson, Jacobi Jupe, and Diane Lane.
The project is set to tell an original story within the established 'The Exorcist' universe. It will not function as a sequel to the 2023 film, 'The Exorcist: Believer.' While specific plot details remain undisclosed, the original 1973 film centered on a mother seeking help from priests to exorcise a demon from her daughter.
Mike Flanagan is also writing and producing the film. This marks his fourth collaboration with Blumhouse, following previous directorial and writing work. Ejiofor previously worked with Flanagan on 'The Life of Chuck'.
