Chet Hanks, son of actor Tom Hanks, has publicly shared his predicament of being stranded in Medellín, Colombia. The 35-year-old explained on social media that a trip to visit friends turned into travel chaos when he attempted to return to the United States.
Hanks stated he flew from Puerto Rico to Medellín and was later informed at the airport that his US passport was close to expiring. As a dual citizen, he was traveling with his Greek passport. However, he alleges that airport staff told him he needed a green card to re-enter the US if using a foreign passport.
He expressed frustration, noting that as an American citizen, he does not possess a green card. Hanks mentioned that the nearest US embassy for assistance is in Bogotá, a city he expressed reluctance to travel to. Despite his travel troubles, Hanks was later seen participating in a nightclub in Medellín.
