UK's Best Zoo Named: A Conservation Powerhouse

Chester Zoo has officially been named the best zoo in the UK by Tripadvisor, based on numerous positive visitor reviews. This sprawling 130-acre zoological park, located in Upton-by-Chester, is home to approximately 30,000 animals and over 500 threatened species, making it one of the largest in the country. The zoo is widely praised not only as a popular family destination but also for its significant contributions to conservation and education.

Its commitment to preventing animal extinction is demonstrated through its protection of species such as Sumatran orangutans, tigers, jaguars, and rhinos. Recent expansions, including the 2.5-acre Heart of Africa habitat, and the opening of The Reserve hotel, further enhance the visitor experience while supporting the zoo's charitable mission. Every visit contributes to vital conservation work, such as developing the world's first vaccine for a virus affecting Asian elephants and helping to bring a species of snail back from the brink of extinction.
