Cheryl Ladd Reminisces About Filming 'The Outsiders' with Young Hollywood Stars

In a recent interview, Oscar-nominated actress Cheryl Ladd looked back on her experience filming the 1983 classic 'The Outsiders' alongside a cast of rising young male stars. Ladd, who was part of the ensemble cast that included Tom Cruise, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Ralph Macchio, C. Thomas Howell, Patrick Swayze, and Matt Dillon, admitted that the all-male environment was "kind of... too much testosterone for one girl" at times. However, she also confessed to being "definitely pinching herself" and "overwhelmed" to be working with such a talented group of actors.

Ladd particularly reminisced about a memorable scene filming a drive-in cinema sequence with co-star C. Thomas Howell. She recalled the crew creating a windstorm effect using large fans and throwing cocoa powder to simulate dust, leaving the actors covered in a white powdery residue by the end of the night.

The Outsiders, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, was an adaptation of S.E. Hinton's novel of the same name, following the rivalry between two gangs in 1960s Tulsa, Oklahoma. The film went on to launch the careers of many of its young stars, cementing its place as an iconic coming-of-age drama of the era.
