Chenango River Theatre is celebrating its 20th anniversary with the opening of Lynn Nottage's "Intimate Apparel." This acclaimed production, directed by Carmela Marner, began its run on May 22 and will continue through June 7.
The play centers on Esther Mills, a skilled Black seamstress in early 20th-century New York City. Esther crafts intimate apparel for a diverse clientele, while a transatlantic correspondence ignites a romance that fuels her aspirations for independence.
Performances are held Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., with matinees on Sundays at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $33 for adults, $12 for college students, and $6 for those 18 and under.
The production is staged on the Gault BMW Stage in Endicott. Season details, including upcoming shows like "The Cottage," "The Last Five Years," and "Proof," are available online. The season is made possible by support from the New York State Council on the Arts and the Community Fund of the Community Foundation for South Central New York.
