Costume Wrestling Film: Entertaining but Uneven
24 Jan
Summary
- Film blends costume wrestling with personal drama.
- Performances, music, and cinematography are praised.
- Screenplay coherence and character development are criticized.

Adhvaith Nayar's film, Chatha Pacha, presents a narrative with notable highs and lows. The integration of costume wrestling provides a unique angle, though it doesn't fully deliver on high-octane action promises. Technical aspects, including Shankar-Ehsaan Loy's music and Anend C Chandran's cinematography, are commendable.
The film's screenplay, developed by Sanoop Thykoodam, excels in certain areas like tournament build-up. However, the portrayal of the relationship between Savio and Vetri lacks sufficient emotional weight. Vetri is depicted with limited emotional range, and Savio's backstory, crucial to their shared history, is largely underexplored on screen.
Despite these narrative challenges, the performances by the cast, including Vishak Nair as Cherian and Roshan Mathew and Arjun Ashokan, are effective. Ishan Shoukath also stands out as a younger brother, and a significant cameo adds to the film's appeal.
