Summary
- Over 500 artworks by Charles Bronson are up for auction.
- The collection is expected to fetch between £100,000 and £200,000.
- Artworks draw themes from imprisonment and prison life.

A substantial collection of 500 artworks by infamous prisoner Charles Bronson, who now goes by Charles Salvador, is scheduled for auction. This extensive sale is poised to be the largest of his works to reach the market and is projected to earn between £100,000 and £200,000.
The art, produced over a quarter-century, spans various sizes and mediums including crayons and ink. Auctioneers noted themes directly related to Bronson's decades of incarceration, such as prison life and figures he encountered. The limited materials available in prison meant art was often created on thin paper or old documents.
Previous sales of Bronson's art have attracted scrutiny, with some works removed from charity auctions and public displays. However, a past sale garnered £30,000. Bronson, who is currently seeking parole, has described his sentence as unlawful. The owner of the collection stated it was a shame for the art to remain unseen.
Recurring motifs in the artwork include regular depictions of porridge, a staple of his prison diet, and a spider present in nearly every piece. These details offer a unique glimpse into the artist's solitary existence and creative output during his lengthy imprisonment.
