While on the red carpet for a concert documentary premiere, she approached a photographer to demand an apology, citing disrespectful behavior at a previous event. Earlier, at the MTV Video Music Awards, she was seen scolding a photographer for shouting expletives.

Furthermore, Roan has previously used social media to discuss her experiences with "predatory behavior disguised as 'superfan' behavior."
