Prime Video's upcoming limited series, The Challenger, is expanding its cast with new recurring roles. The series, which stars Kristen Stewart as Sally Ride and Will Arnett as George Abbey, will focus on the events preceding the tragic 1986 Challenger space shuttle disaster.
The show aims to recount the disaster, the investigation that followed, and Sally Ride's pioneering journey as the first American woman in space. The Challenger space shuttle tragically broke apart 73 seconds after liftoff on January 28, 1986, resulting in the loss of all seven crew members.
Inspired by Meredith E. Bagby's 2023 book, 'The New Guys,' the series is being developed by Big Swing Productions, Amblin Television, and Nevermind Pictures. Maggie Cohn serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner, with James Hawes directing and executive producing.
