The ad, which features Bigg Boss 13 fame Shefali Bagga, appears to capitalize on Chahal's highly publicized divorce from Dhanashree Verma, referencing the 'Be Your Own Sugar Daddy' slogan he wore during the final hearing.

In the video, Chahal takes on the role of chief story officer for Story TV, narrating a script that alludes to a Bollywood diva experiencing a difficult divorce and seeking alimony. Although Verma is not named, viewers quickly connected the dots, leading to widespread criticism. Social media platforms, including Reddit, were flooded with negative reactions, with users calling the marketing 'disgusting' and 'below the line.'

Some netizens expressed strong opinions, with one user stating that Chahal was 'milk[ing]' his divorce for publicity and mocking others. Others commented on his perceived lack of self-esteem, suggesting he was only bringing his net worth to relationships. The ad has been widely described as 'cringe' by users, though a few acknowledged the potential for short-form drama platforms to evolve over time, similar to K-dramas or anime.

Yuzvendra Chahal married Dhanashree Verma on December 20, 2020. After 18 months of marriage, rumors of separation surfaced, and the couple officially filed for divorce by mutual consent on February 5, 2025.
