Elizabeth Jane Howard's acclaimed Cazalet Chronicle novels are set to be reissued, commencing in 2026. The first of these revamped editions is 'The Light Years,' originally published in 1990, which offers an intimate look at a family grappling with private battles during a summer on their English countryside estate.
This literary saga, considered a modern classic, originally comprised five volumes, with 'The Light Years' followed by 'Marking Time,' 'Confusion,' 'Casting Off,' and 'All Change.' The series has previously been adapted into a TV miniseries.
Adding to the excitement, Howard's niece, Louisa Young, a novelist herself, will pen three new volumes to continue the beloved series. The first of these, titled 'The Golden Hours,' is slated for release in 2027, promising more stories for devoted readers.
'The Light Years' will be available starting December 1st. The reissue project signifies a renewed appreciation for Howard's talent in capturing diverse characters with humanity and insight.
