Set against the backdrop of 17th-century Britain in 1645, "Cavendish" is an upcoming thriller described as "irreverent and original." The film centers on a privileged young bride, portrayed by Sophie Thatcher, who faces accusations of witchcraft on her wedding day.
Forced to flee, she forms an uneasy alliance with a witted poacher, played by Erin Kellyman. Together, they confront a relentless witch hunter, portrayed by Joe Alwyn, turning their perceived powerlessness into strength through violence, wit, and defiance.
The movie aims to blend visceral action with sharp, unexpected humor. "Cavendish" is produced by BAFTA award winners Ivana MacKinnon and Emily Leo, alongside Rosa Attab, Jacqueline De Croy, Klaudia Smieja-Rostworowska, and Bogna Szewczyk-Skupien.
Development of the film was a collaboration with BBC Film, and it received funding from the Polish Film Institute's cash rebate program. Production is slated to commence in Poland in September 2026. Cornerstone is managing international sales and distribution, while CAA Media Finance is handling domestic rights.
