During a news conference, Blanchett discussed the importance of creative uncertainty, describing doubt as vital for challenging, questioning, and exploring. She explained that this uncertainty is her artistic starting point, enabling her to perceive and connect more deeply.
Blanchett's visit to Japan also includes her participation in the Tokyo International Film Festival. She is scheduled for talk events, including a Q&A following Japanese premieres of shorts supported by her Displacement Film Fund and a discussion about the film 'Alpha Gang'.
Each Praemium Imperiale laureate receives a medal, testimonial letter, and an honorarium of 15 million yen. This year's recipients also include Jenny Holzer, Andy Goldsworthy, Daniel Libeskind, and Herbert Blomstedt.
