The ITV drama 'Believe Me' is set to feature Carrie Johnson, wife of former Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The four-part series focuses on the true story of serial rapist John Worboys, dubbed the 'black cab rapist.'
In the drama, Carrie Johnson, now 37 and a mother of four, is portrayed by actress Miriam Petche. Nearly two decades ago, when she was just 19, Johnson was drugged in Worboys' London taxi. She bravely waived her right to anonymity.
Carrie was among nearly 100 women who reported Worboys to the police. Her case was one of 14 selected to go to court. Worboys was convicted in 2009 for crimes including sexual assault and drugging, with his victims numbering at least 12 women.
Johnson shared a first look at the programme on Instagram Stories, showing Miriam as Carrie shielding her eyes from photographers outside court. She expressed hope that 'Believe Me' will prompt reform within the police, CPS, and parole board, stressing a critical need for cultural shifts and ensuring victims are treated with respect and seriousness.
