A new adaptation of Stephen King's "Carrie" is now available on Prime Video, developed by Mike Flanagan. This version significantly alters the story's climax by introducing a cult of psychic women who intervene at the prom. These witches join Carrie White in enacting supernatural vengeance, leading to widespread destruction.
Unlike prior iterations, both Carrie and her mother, Margaret, survive the harrowing events of the "Black Prom." The adaptation concludes with Carrie, accompanied by a witch named Emaline, departing on a journey of self-discovery, suggesting potential for future story arcs.
Key departures from the source material include the survival of Margaret White and the introduction of other psychic characters at the prom. These changes aim to explore the complexity of tragedy and its aftermath, offering a different perspective on Carrie's fate and the consequences of her powers.
