Apple TV has greenlit a second season of its International Emmy-nominated drama, 'Carême.' Inspired by the fascinating life of Antonin Carême, history's first celebrity chef, the series explores his journey from poverty in Paris to the pinnacle of culinary fame during Napoleon Bonaparte's reign.
The French-language production, directed by Martin Bourboulon and starring Benjamin Voisin, is set to begin filming next week in Paris. This renewal arrives shortly after the drama secured a nomination for the International Emmy Award for best drama, with nominations announced last week.
The first season of 'Carême,' which launched on Apple TV in April 2025, garnered widespread critical acclaim. It depicts Carême's ambition to become the world's most famous chef, which inadvertently drew the attention of powerful politicians who exploited his skills for espionage. The narrative questions the cost of fame, wealth, and ambition on his personal life and soul.
Based on Ian Kelly's book, the series is filmed in iconic Parisian locations, including the Tuileries Palace and several châteaux. Executive producers include Vanessa van Zuylen and Dominique Farrugia.
